In the lead-up to the Ministerial Meeting and the 6th Africa-EU Summit, ACT Alliance EU joined 19 Civil Society Organisations in endorsing an open letter calling for inclusive education to be at the centre of the renewed EU-Africa partnership with a view to overcoming inequalities while advancing human development and poverty reduction.
To respond to and recover from the pandemic and its socio-economic consequences, and help build a renewed partnership with human development – and education for all – at its core, CSOs urge European and African leaders to ensure:
- Quality inclusive education at all levels with significant investments to strengthen public education systems
- A comprehensive plan to advance human development and social justice, which should address structural inequalities, strengthen ties across policy sectors and meet funding commitments
- Recognition of civil society as a key partner during the preparations leading up to the Summit
